My Kitchen Rules: Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton robbed after baby Poppy Grace dies from leukaemia

The grieving parents of a 20-month-old baby who died from cancer have been dealt a fresh blow just hours after her funeral.

Little Poppy Grace Middleton died earlier this month after a courageous battle with leukaemia.

Her parents Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton, who starred on My Kitchen Rules, have now revealed they were targeted by robbers in the early hours of last Friday morning - just hours after their previous girl was laid to rest.

The couple, from Newcastle in New South Wales, were asleep when the man broke into their car and stole money from inside the vehicle.

The traumatised parents also say the man tried to break into their home but was unsuccessful.

They shared CCTV of the attempted break-in on Instagram in an attempt to find the culprit, saying they feel “really unsafe”.

“Unfortunately on the night/morning after [the funeral] at 3.30am our car was broken into and a young man attempted to come into our house,” they wrote.

“He only took money from our car but we are feeling sick that this person entered our space.

“After sleeping for months in hospital with plenty of our nurses/family around, we just feel really unsafe.”

The incident has been reported to the police.

The couple shared the news of Poppy Grace’s passing last week.

“This morning we lost our precious baby Poppy Grace,” they wrote.

“True to form she fought tooth and nail until her final breath. Her leukaemia took over and at her last bloods the blasts were 787,000. That fighting spirit was so prominent right throughout her battle and it was so evident in the last four traumatic days.

“Poppy showed us what it is to be grateful and happy with whatever cards you are dealt.

“She made the most of her time on Earth, dancing, giggling and smiling right until days from the end. She was loving and funny and nurturing. She was clever and empathetic.

“She had a heart of gold and she shone so brightly, oozing joy. We felt honoured to be her mums and we didn’t take a second of that for granted, not a second.

“She taught us so very much in her short 20 months and we have never experienced a love as all encompassing.”

They continued: “We know there were so many children, teens and adults alike following her journey and we don’t want to hurt their beautiful hearts.

“Please tell them that Poppy’s star is shining brightly above them encouraging them to be strong when handed adversity, and to make the most of life and all its sparkling opportunities.”

The couple have asked people to pay their respects by donating blood.

Carly and Tresne appeared on the 2014 series of MKR and have been together since 2006.
