According to the Daily Star, Manchester City is prepared to nearly double Erling Haaland’s wages in order to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
Currently earning £375,000 per week, the Norwegian forward shares the title of highest earner at the Etihad with Kevin De Bruyne.
However, City aims to offer Haaland a new contract that would see his wages rise to £600,000 per week.
Although Haaland’s current deal is set to run until 2027, the Premier League champions want to persuade the 23-year-old to extend his contract.
In addition to Real Madrid, City is also aware of the lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, as Riyad Mahrez decided to leave the Treble winners for the Middle East this summer.
If Haaland signs the new contract, he would join the top 10 highest earners in football with an annual salary of £32.5 million.
