Despite allegations that the singer has the same illness that claimed the life of her close friend and fellow soul singer, Aretha Franklin, Knight's publicist has disputed that the singer has cancer. According to The Detroit News, Knight said she shared "the same sickness" as the Queen of Soul when attending Franklin's service at Greater Grace Temple on Thursday, according to WDIV, a local television station in Detroit, Michigan. Regarding when her disease was discovered, the artist has remained silent.
