Dramatic footage shows the moment a gang leader stabbed a triple murderer at Goulburn’s Supermax prison.
Farhad Qaumi, 39, was sentenced at Goulburn District Court last Wednesday for the assault occasioning bodily harm of killer Abuzar Sultani, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The video, obtained by the Daily Telegraph, shows Qaumi in a TV room with his handcuffs removed while Sultani enters with handcuffs on.
Qaumi then removes a shiv from his pocket and stabs the victim multiple times.
The court heard Sultani suffered a 10cm laceration to his neck and a 5cm laceration to his forehead, including other injuries.
Quami’s solicitor Simon Joyner spoke against the release of the video, warning it “would likely inflame gang violence and cause further trouble on the streets of Sydney”.
Sources from Corrective Services described the incident as “highly unusual and incredibly disturbing that multiple officers watched on for so long and did not respond”.
“They would have been expected to order physical direction to the inmate, to tell him to drop the weapon and submit to officers, but this footage shows this had not occurred,” the source told the Daily Telegraph.
Quami had 19 months added to his current near-60-year sentence and will remain behind bars until at least October 7, 2056.
Sultani is serving a life sentence for masterminding the murders of Pasquale Barbaro, Mehmet Yilmaz and Michael Davey.
